immunoGlobe Antikörpertechnik GmbH is a pri-
vately owned company that has been founded
in spring 1997 as a "spin-off" of the University
of Würzburg. The company is located in the
industrial park of Himmelstadt, 20 km northwest
of Würzburg.
Core competences are:
Development of novel research anti-
bodies (with a focus on signal trans-
duction and the cytoskeleton). More than
50% of the still limited but constantly expan-
ding product portfolio are unique research
antibodies available from no other commercial
source.
Commercialization of well character-
ized and established antibodies deve-
loped and licensed by the university partners
of the company. immunoGlobe takes
over packing, documentation, marketing, and
distribution of the products. The company
especially benefits also from the marketing
activities of its world-wide distributors, among
them ALEXIS Corp. (San Diego/USA and
Switzerland), ENCO Scientific Services Ltd.
(Israel), and several Asian distributors.
Antibody services: Production and purifi-
cation of polyclonal rabbit anti-peptide anti-
bodies and antibodies against antigens pro-
vided by the customer. In cooperation with
the Animal Welfare Authorities, special modes
of animal housing (animals are kept in groups
in huge and well-structured ground level en-
closures) and treatment (e.g. alternative adju-
vants) have been developed. Not only for those
who oppose the conventional immunization
procedures and caging of rabbits, attractive
chances for an outsourcing of immunization
projects are provided.
